30 post photo challenge {8.}...

Happy Monday everybody! Hope you all had lovely weekends. Continuing on with the '30 Post Photo Challenge' I bring to you Day 8...

Post #8: A picture that makes you laugh...

If you even need to ask why this picture makes me laugh...well, you just have no sense of humor. This picture pretty much explains Bff Jil and I. We are weird gals, but we never fail to have a good time together. Also, it must be said, Jil makes THE best fishy face in the history of all fishy faces. Ever.

wise words wednesday {24.}...

This weekend I decided I was going to get stuff together to decorate my new office at work (Okay...I have had it since January 3rd, but I have been busy and haven't had time to decorate. For shame!) I have a pretty spacious office...it has two desks in it, but no one uses the second desk. Basically it is a pretty blah space at the moment. I decided the best thing to start with is a picture collage. I mean what is better than pictures of those that we love to perk up a space? Nothing, in my humble opinion. So, I started to peruse my picture archives and I put together quite a lovely collage. As I looked at my finished product I examined it and felt so blessed. Why? Because of the crazy amount of love I have in my life. Here is just a little gander at the different kinds of love I am lucky enough to have...

{24.} Wise Words....

"All you need is love."-The Beatles

{1.} Grandpa and Step-Grandma.

{2.} Brother Jason and Niece Jordan

{3.} The whole H-Family clan

{4.} Future-Sister-In-Law-Bastina, Bff Ashton, and Bff Lauren

{5.} Dad

{6.} Bff-Sister-from-Another-Mister- Jil

{7.} Lifelong-Bff Fabi

{8.} Mama

{9.} Bug

{10.} Brother Jonathan and Bastina

You all made the office picture collage. Why? Just cause I love ya!

a week in review {2.}...

It is Friday! Not only is it Friday, but it is the Friday BEFORE a three day weekend. This makes me very happy. That extra day off is basically just what the doctor ordered so that I don't lose my ever loving mind. So, it is time for 'A Week in Review'...

{Monday}: Monday was an okay day. I had some personal stuff going on that wasn't exactly the most fun to deal with, but choices were made and things are getting better. Which is good. Monday was also Valentine's Day...which I don't really celebrate whether in a relationship or not, but one of our van drivers gifted me with Dove chocolates which made my life. He is my new favorite and I told him he bought himself first call when I put together the after-hours crisis calender. Anywho, I hung with my new work clique. There are some amazing gals in that group, and I have loved getting to know them all. Then after work I had dinner with the loves of my life; my mom, big brother Jason, and Bug. It was a good day. On Monday I also blogged about my VERY first 'Always Alexandria' giveaway. I am super excited and y'all have until 2/19/11 at 8:00 pm to enter!!

{Tuesday}: This was the day from Meeting Hell, and yes that place does exist. When and where does it exist? In the 'G' County Mental Health building every third week of the month. This day was a giant suckfest...I was in meetings from 9 to 5. With barely a 30 minute lunch break. Thank heavens for the previously mentioned Van Driver Jeff for keeping me supplied with Starbucks mocha deliveries. I hatttte meeting days. They depress me and make my brain feel as if it is melting. Pretty sure I tuned out around 3:00. You best believe I bolted out of the office with the quickness as SOON as that clock said five o'clock! I then went over to have pizza and girl talk with Bff Jil. It had been over a month since I had seen her, and it was super nice to catch up with her. I missed that girl.

{Wednesday}: Oh Wednesday. You were sorta epic. After our forever and a day long weekly staff meeting in the O-town office, I headed back home to my W-town office. I didn't have much going on work wise, so I kicked it with Tania and Van Driver Jeff while we rocked out to 80's music and they spoke Jersey Shore to each other. Their favorite quote? "The cabs are here." It was too funny. We had a blast. Then the best part of the day...watching Tuesday nights 'Glee'!! Which was all kinds of amazeballs. It also gave me the fever...you know which fever I am talking about. Don't judge.

{Thursday}: Thursday was a meh kind of day. It is storming like crazy in my little corner of California. It is yucky depressing weather. It even snowed a little. THAT is unheard of! The good part about Thursday was that I was able to attend my weekly supervision with Supervisor Supervisor. Basically every week the clinicians, case managers, and supervisors have a meeting just to check in, get advice and blah, blah, blah. Then right after that I have my one on one supervision. It is really amazing because it is basically an hour long therapy session, where our supervisors help us with work issues, personal issues, and any other issues that need to be processed. I really needed it this week, and it felt good to get stuff off my chest. Psbtw, I absolutely adore Supervisor Supervisor. She is too legit to quit, my friends.

{Friday}: I have zero clue what is happening (being that I am cheating and writing this on Thursday night!) Yep...I am sneaky like that.

This weekend will be full of big plans though. I am heading to Sacramento with work friend Tania to help her get stuff for her wedding. Makeup, shoes, and all that fun stuff. Sunday is Tan's birthday and we are getting a girls group together to assemble her wedding invitations, then we are having a lovely lunch to celebrate her day of birth. Monday will be catching up on rest and laundry....why yes, I am super exciting.

What are YOU all planning for the weekend? Please share in the comments section. Also, don't forget to enter my giveaway right here.

things i am bitter about...

I know I like to keep things happy/uplifting/funny on this blog. Normally every Wednesday I find some wise words to share with all of you. Well, not today. Today I am tired, grouchy, and pretty darn bitter. So, this post is a total bitchfest. Love me through it folks...

Things I am Bitter About...

{1.} I am still bitter about my flight from Salt Lake City to Sacramento being seriously delayed on Sunday evening. This resulted in me not getting home until the next morning instead of at 10:35pm as was originally scheduled. This also resulted in me missing work on Monday...and having to cancel three appointments with new clients. This made me look unprofessional and like a slacker. It also caused me to have some SERIOUSLY intense dark circles under my eyes. Way to suck Delta Airlines....way to suck.

{2.} I am completely bitter about being denied time off from work on the 29th. This is the story my friends: I bust my booty at work. My department head always tells me I do the work of about three employees (yes, I am patting myself on the back. deal.) I work really hard...as we all should when we are at our jobs...the 'work' part is implied. Or so I would think. Some of my coworkers have the crappiest work ethics I have ever seen in my life. They come late, leave early, call in sick ALL THE TIME, do personal stuff at work, and are sometimes completely unprofessional (yes this is coming from the chick who threw someones briefcase into the hallway, moving on). Point being, I totally should have been able to leave early on this day. What was my direct supervisors response to my request? "Nope. That is the day court reports have to be faxed to probation. You have to fax them since you are taking over the program when I retire." Um. What? I have to be the one who faxes the reports? Does no one else in this office know how to operate a fax machine? As long as MY clients reports are completed why do I have to press the 'send' button? Anyways...this means that the super-awesome-birthday-surprise-that was supposed to be a secret but I figured it out-from Bff Jil is cancelled. What was said surprise of awesome? Tickets to see Lady Antebellum LIVE. I am supremely bitter about this. Okay, I lied. I am effing pissed about it.

{3.} I am totally jealous and bitter that my eldest brother took his annual trip to Southern California to hit up Universal Studios/Warner Brothers Studio last week. He came over last night and told me he met, "That kid from the singing show." I said, "Glee?! You met someone from GLEEEE?!" He replied, "Yeah. The one who has glasses." Me, "ARTIE?! Shut up!" Him, "Seriously. Who even likes that show?" What a complete waste. I want to meet Artie. I love that kid. It so should have been me...or Amanda.

{4.} I am slightly bitter that I work with a bunch of reformed criminals (who i love, mind you) Since I work in a drug and alcohol program, most of the other counselors are former addicts/alcoholics/criminals. I am the only 'normal' one...they like to call me 'The Normi'. So, the only other employee who does NOT have a criminal record is the daycare worker. Since I do not have a criminal past I passed the Live Scan fingerprint thing when I began work there. This means I can help in the daycare and look after the children. This also means I got puked on yesterday by a 6 month old. Yep...all down the front of my blouse/jeans/arm. Sick.

{5.} I am bitter that Glee was not on this week. I mean REALLY? My week is incomplete without Glee. It needs to be next Tuesday to cheer my life up.

So, I started the bitchfest...feel free to join in! What are YOU bitter about at the moment? Am I justified in all of my pissed off glory? Let me know. Thanks for reading the rants of a crazy person!

So...this is a simple one, it is also one where I am going to break the rules. But whatevs. I have TWO best friends, no I cannot pick between them. Bff Jil is an honorary member of my family (lucky her). I see her pretty much every single day, we have a fake lesbian relationship, she is basically legit. End of story.

This is Fabi. We have been besties since forever...like 10 years. We were inseparable until she got married a year after high school and moved to Arkansas where her hubs was stationed (they are now located in Alaska). It sucks that she is so far away, but we have stayed super close. I love her bad.

Day 1 of the 30 day challenge? Piece. Of. Cake.

double trouble {2.}...

I promised in a post last week that I would relax and only do things I wanted to do over the weekend. I basically succeeded in that task (minus a few loads of laundry). I continued on in my re-reading of Harry Potter (finished book 4 and started book 5), I played Super Mario Bros. Wii, I tanned in the pool, and just relaxed. It was quite lovely.

On Sunday, Bff Jil brought her nephew Jacob (also known as Jake-n-Bake) over to play with my niece Jordan (also known as 'Bug'). These two are the CUTEST children on the planet. I refer to them as 'Double Trouble' even though they NEVER fight, whine, cry, or misbehave when they play together. I am 99.9% positive that two five year olds will always fight with one another if they spend an entire day playing. Not these two, they get along like gangbusters.

We have decided they will either get married to each other, or get arrested together...possibly both.

We spent ALL day in the pool. We made a fort out of rafts, did cannonballs, made an obstacle course for the kids, and got our tan on. Jacob was not a fan at first, but by the end of the day he was swimming solo and didn't want help from anybody. He also determined that my name is 'Zanderson'. Long story short..my nickname is 'Zander', that is what Bff Jil calls me, Jacob for some reason liked 'Zanderson' better.

We called a break when a breeze picked up and we got a little chilly in the water. It was supposed to be 103 degrees, and I would guess it was maybe 90. Which is still hot, but not really when you add cold pool water, and a breeze. While Bff Jil and I lounged on our towels eating pretzel m&ms and drinking hard lemonade, the kids frolicked around with the beach ball sprinkler and had icees.

They were HILARIOUS when playing with this thing. They both used their cups to dunk water over each others heads. I have never heard two kids laugh so much! They are presh.

I do believe this is one of my all time favorite pictures. How cute do they look? This was the five seconds that they remained still all afternoon.

We finally ventured back into the shade of the house when the kids started to look a little red. They played the Wii and then watched Monsters, Inc. while Bff Jil and I watched a documentary ('8: The Mormon Proposition'; it was really interesting). I went to check on them in my room and they were sitting on the bed, watching the movie...and holding hands. True love at age 5...who would have thought?!

What did YOU all do over the weekend?

boardgames, girl talk, and ice cream sundaes! oh my...

Last Monday Bff Jil and I were chatting and decided that it was time for a girls night in. It had been FAR too long since we had a girls night, well not that long, we all did just go see 'Eclipse'...but whatevs. We planned that we would test out 'Twilight Scene It' and make some super scrumptious ice cream sundaes! Here is what we did...

Basically we just had a blast. What did YOU all do this weekend? Please, share! Also, feel free to make fun of us for playing a 'Twilight' themed boardgame...love us through it!

fill in the blank friday {12.}...

Happy Friday! I just came across a very sad fact...this is my last Friday of doing nothing productive at all. I mean yay for me finally getting a job, but sad for my relaxing no work/school vacation. Alright, let's fill some blanks...

{1.} A very nostalgic place that reminds me of being a kid is Disneyland of course! I grew up going to The Happiest Place on Earth every single summer with the fam. Every time I walk through those gates I feel like I am a little kid all over again. I love it there.

{2.} If someone really wants to show me how much they love me they will know me. Does that sound dumb? They will listen to me and understand all my kinds of crazy. They will know when to leave me alone, and when to be there for me.

{3.} Lately I've been wondering a lot about what the future holds. I feel like I am finally getting started and living my life. It is scary but awesome all at the same time.

{4.} When it comes to saving money I am still learning. I mean I don't do the whole debt thing. I keep myself out of any and all debt. So if I don't have money I don't spend it, but if I do have it...I tend to spend instead of save. I am actively working on it though!

{5.} I'd prefer winter over summer any day! I hate Northern California summers. When it gets over 100 degrees I am basically over life as we know it.

{6.}I wish I knew how to make honey chipotle chicken crisper tacos, like the ones at Chili's. They are seriously tacos made by angels in Heaven. No lie.

{7.} I'm just waiting for it to be this evening so I can have a night out of awesomeness with the one and only Bff Jil! Dinner, shopping, and fro you?! Yes, please!

Have a great weekend everyone! Make sure if you fill some blanks of your own to go over and link up at Lauren's blog!

wise words wednesday {5.}...

It is official friends. I am a real life grown up. Nutso, right?! I am SO blessed to have found a job that is 1.) local, 2.) well paying, 3.) helping those who need it, and 4.) allowing me to utilize my BS in Psychology (if you are a psych major, you know what a accomplishment that is!)

It starts as part time, which is a-okay for now! I get my fingerprints (live scan) done tomorrow, and then hopefully I will start next week as a case manager for the drug & alcohol rehabilitation program in the county I live in. I will be doing intakes and assessments on their clients, and watching the head counselor run his groups in order to prepare me to take on groups of my own. HOLLA!

So, what are the wise words of today?

{5.} Wise Words...

Let's live it up. Let's enjoy our lives! The good and the bad! To quote someone I never thought I would quote (ash, this is for you) "Put my hands up, they're playing my song!" Hollllller Miley. Bahaha.

In other news...a momentous occasion has occurred. The one. The only. Bff Jil is NOW on Twitter. Follow her crazy self @bff_jil!

the fourth o' july...

In case you are wondering, I am aware that the 4th was a little over a week ago. I wish I could claim that I have been too busy to post...but that is SO not the case. I was just debating if I could bring myself to post some of these pictures of the H-Family's firework festivities. I mean a full day of running around in 100 degree temps, swimming, and stuffing ones face does NOT lead to attractive pictures for anyone.

After some debate (and some picniking, why hello 'cinemascope' feature, I love you) I decided to post just a few! I now present you with how my family spent the 4th o' July...

All in all it was a pretty low-key holiday weekend, but it was still a good time. Well, up until we all got eaten alive by mosquitos. Sick-to-the-nast. Also, if you don't have Picnik, get it. It rules. I love this cinemascope feature, it makes your pictures look like 1940's movie screens. Love it!

the super fabulous road trip of pure awesomeness {4}...

Do you all remember that one time that Bff Jil and I went on a road trip? No. Well go here, here, and then here and you will be all caught up. So, I figured I would throw up a post with random pictures of our journey...why? Because it's my blog and I do what I want. Most of these are just pictures of the gorgeous scenery. Srsly. The green everywhere was A.Maz.Ing...

Oh heyyy Hooters sign that was located in Portland, Oregon. We embrace the trashy and Hooters is pretty much one of our favorite places to eat. It was too bad we had just eaten when we passed by you...

I think the drive from Port Angeles to Forks was the prettiest out of the whole trip. I cannot count how many times we gasped and/or said, "Oh em gee! It is SO pretty! I want to move here." I can however count how many times we listened to the Glee version of 'Bad Romance'. Let's just say it was over 30...

Just a waterfall that was RIGHT on the side of the road...no big thing...

Seriously. This was what the drive consisted of. One side of the road looked like this...

The other side looked like this. This is Crescent Lake, and yes I am aware that it looks like the sky...but it was just the reflection. The water was SO clear and blue...

We had to snap a 'signature pose' when we stopped alongside the road to take pretty nature pictures. Hollller ginorm sunglasses. Dolce & Gabbana and Jimmy Choo, respectively...

We were going to venture into this little area and act like vampires and snap pictures, but it was cold, kinda looked like it was going to rain, and everything was SO mossy that we knew our flip flop rocking California girl selves would slip and fall. So we just snapped a quick photo and bounced outta that piece...

I think this is my favorite picture of the entire trip, and that is really saying something because I have a picture of me groping Cardboard Edward's junk. I am pretty sure if Bff Jil and I could have dug this tree up, we would have strapped it to the roof of her Tahoe and brought it back to Cali with us. It is freaking gorgeous...

In one of the 45,000 'Twi-Shoppes' they had this map where people had stuck pins in, ya know to show how dedicated they are to the world of Twilight. Let me tell you...people are freaking ded.i.cated. I mean going to forks from New Zealand? Um...that is an intense breed of fangirl...

Last but not least a final picture of Bff Jil and myself...and our sunglasses. What is the lesson learned from all of the road trip posts? Go on a road trip with your best friend, it will be a blast...

xoxo

fill in the blank friday {10.}...

Why hello Friday! I am SO pleased to see you. It has been a LONG week. Can I just say taking care of a five year old for a week straight is exhausting? I applaud all of you who are parents *applause*. I have NO clue how you do it. Anywho...it is time to fill some blanks! Make sure to head over to Lauren's blog and link up.

{1.} If I could choose my last meal it would be chicken marsala made by my big brother Jason. Seriously, you have not lived until you have dined on that deliciousness. Then I would top it off with a vanilla Sprinkles cupcake. Can we say foodgasm?

{2.} My favorite person to share a meal with is Bff Jil because, she is legit, duh. But, in all seriousness, no one appreciates food like Bff Jil and I do. I mean we plan our outings/trips/lives around when/where/what we are going to eat. Plus, she is hilar and we always have a blasty blast chatting it up, in between stuffing our faces. Holler.

{3.} The best meal I've ever had was the first time I dined on fried pickles at Hooters. Do. Not. Judge. Me. Hooters has delicious wings AND fried pickles may sound trashy, but I embrace the trashy. Just love me through it.

{4.} The one food that makes me feel instantly better when I'm having a bad day is a blue slushee. Okay, so a slushee may not technically qualify as a food, and blue may not be a flavor, but in my world it works. Rain or shine a blue slushee will lift my spirits like nobodies business.

{5.} My absolute specialty in the kitchen is avoiding anything related to the cooking process. Really, it is a gift. I am a super sleuth at staying far away from that room when it is meal time. Um, have I mentioned I despise (and suck at) cooking?

{6.} The city that has the best food is San Francisco because there are a million hole in the wall places that are delicious AND affordable. They have amazing bakeries, and seafood that is to die for. It is as close to culinary perfection as any city can be.

{7.} My favorite healthy snack is an apple. I eat an apple a day, it unfortunately does not keep the doctor away, but it tastes delicious.

{8.} In my opinion the nationality which has the best food is the Italians, duh. I must stick with my people! We have pizza, pasta, bread...what other food groups do you need? Yeah...none.

{9.} If I could learn to cook anything in the world (and be really good at it!) I'd choose decadent french pastries. I would KILL to be a fabulous pastry chef. Clearly, I just want some magnificent tarts in my life.

{10.} The most outrageous dessert I've ever had was the glory also known as, a Sprinkles cupcake. I mean, some may say they are WAY overrated...but they happen to be the most amazing cupcakes on the planet. Although, the white chocolate fondue at The Melting Pot is pretty damn good as well.

Have a great weekend folks! I plan on doing nothing but floating in my pool and trying to avoid the triple digit temperatures we will be having in Cali this weekend.

xoxo

the super fabulous road trip of pure awesomeness {3}...

Finally the piece de resistance of all of the road trip posts! Click here for posts #1 & #2, and catch yourself up on the best road trip to ever occur. So, what was the goal of 'operation drive a bazillion miles, in the pouring freaking rain, on streets with highly inappropriate names'? Well, it was to finally reach our destination of Port Angeles/Forks/La push. Obvi. So, we stayed the night in the cutest city also know as Port Angeles then drove the HOUR to Forks (pretty sure S. Meyer lied about how long/boring that drive is...or maybe the drive would have seemed like it was only ten minutes long had Edward been driving us and we could have been preoccupied with his stone cold glittery foxy self).

After the hour long drive, 6 or 7 road rage outbursts from Bff Jil, and listening to The Twilight Saga Soundtracks...we finally made it to Forks, Washington. Holler. Be prepared...there are about a bazillion pictures in this post. Enjoy...

I would love to go on and on about how delish the mushroom ravioli was at the restaurant that was the location of Edward and Bella's first date...but the menu didn't look all that appetizing. We were bad Twilight fans and went to Downriggers for round two and had scrumptious seafood. Don't judge us...

You best believe Bff Jil and I went and chatted up the ladies who pretty much know all things Twilight. They gave us maps and everything so we could commence our own little solo tour of Twi-World...

Also, since it was just a two person road trip adventure...there are many pictures of Bff Jil and I doing the exact same thing...one of her...and then one of me. We should have trailed some cute boy along with us to do all our picture taking business...

Why no, we did NOT find a boy to schlep around and take our picture all day long. But Bff Jil has some serious brains and pulled her big ol' Tahoe up as close to the sign as possible, balanced my camera in the window, set the ten second timer, and then hauled ass up the little hill so we could snap this photographic gem...

We then of course had to snap solo pictures of ourselves with the glorious welcome to Forks sign. This is Bff Jil...

and this is me, myself, and I...

We then ventured to one of the 75 Twilight stores that are located in the lovely Forks, Washington. We had to pick up some souvenirs for our friends who were not able to come on the trip with us...and to pose with Edward...

Or in my case...to molest the cardboard Edward cutout. Don't judge me. He enjoyed every single second of it...*ahem*...

Bff Jil found another Edward while in Forks (srsly. homeboy is EVERYWHERE all the time in those parts). She was giving him a lil' smooch...

After we found 'Edward' and photographed him to death, we began our self-guided tour through the ginormous metropolis known as Forks. Which started with visiting Bella's truck, which was SO not her truck. This truck was too nice and totally RED...pretty sure Bella's actual truck is beat to hell and kinda orangish...

I am pretty sure that Jil was thisclose to refusing to pose with the truck because it was so NOT legit...then she got over it and slapped a smile on her face so I could snap a quick picture. Say cheese...

Apparently this is Bella's house. See there is even a little sign that says 'Home of the Swans'. But this is not really her house (fakers)...it is some other people's house who don't mind allowing thousands of Twilight fans to take pictures of their home, as long as you don't go in their yard. Pretty sure that is a shanking offense or something...

Next stop was the Forks Hospital...where Carlisle works. Yeah, he does so work there. We have proof...

We also have almost identical poses in these pictures. Odd. Oh, and Dear Guys Who Were In The Building Where This Sign Hangs, we totally heard you making fun of us. Shut your faces. Love, Me...

We then ventured on over to Forks High, pulled over with the quickness in front of this sign, jumped out, snapped a picture of me...

snapped a picture of Bff Jil, and then ran like morons back to the car that we left running, and booked it. Why the mad photo dash? We were completely worried that the high schoolers would judge us for posing in front of their school...

Oh hiiiiii, The Cullen's (faux) household. Okay, really Forks?! Is this the best home you could come up with? I mean the Cullens are freaking loaded...you best believe their casa is like something you would see on MTV Cribs (whoa. i just made myself feel old)...

Isn't that Esme just a doll? She even left a sweet little note just for Bff Jil and I...

Then it was time for two fierce members of Team Edward to cross the infamous treaty line and venture into wolf territory. Things could get a little dicey folks...

Things did get dicey. As soon as we passed the sign for La Push it started to get way windy...and then the rain began. We were SO not feeling the rain, but being the stellar Twilight fans that we are we continued on...

Bff Jil snapped this because, and I quote, "Meh. That looks like it is high enough it may have almost-killed Bella when she jumped, yeah?" Um...yeah....

La Push was actually super pretty. I mean it was nicer then Forks...and the ocean was beautiful. But like I said, it was raining, we were not in the mood to walk along the beach in the rain, wearing flip flops, so we parked the car...

Snapped a photo of me, freezing my arse off...

and one of Bff Jil, freezing her arse off...

With that our trip to Forks/La Push was done. We booked it back to Port Angeles and spent the rest of the day eating, shopping, and going to see 'Sex & The City 2'. It was legit my friends...okay actually it was kind of a let down (we did the entire tour in less than an hour) and slightly ghetto BUT it was still a blast! I would recommend y'all making the trip up there if you ever get the chance!

xoxo
