wise words wednesday {23.}...

I have a lot of goals and plans for my life; I mean, doesn't everybody? We all have this picture in our heads of what we hope our lives will look like eventually. I have a vision of what my future will look like, and perfect is not in it. I hope to have a fabulous life, where I accomplish my goals and plans, but perfection doesn't exist. If I am to be 100% honest, I am glad that perfect isn't reality. Why? Because life wouldn't be as interesting and exciting as it is. While I have all these dreams, the one thing I know I will never waiver on is being happy. I don't care what I am doing, where I am doing it, or how much I am being paid to do it, if I am not happy, it isn't worth it. In my opinion anyways. Which brings me to one of my all time favorite quotes...

{23.} Wise Words...
Be happy. That is all.

Hi Alex

I love your post, and it made me think...

I think as human beings we think perfection is sitting on the beach doing nothing but singing songs while the sun is constantly setting and everyone is happy and stuff like that. But it is far beyond that.

It is that same content, peaceful feeling, but it isn't so lazy (if you know what I mean). It's in the ability and priviledge to do a job that you love, and to be really good at it and yet have it challenge you. I think perfection is in the journey to be personally fulfilled in every aspect of your life: family, work, faith, love etc. To continue to be better and learn as much as you can. Ultimatly (you know, in heaven)we will be perfect but I think even then this will continue the only difference is we would be without sin and have more hope (and no uncertainties) than we know what to do with. We will still work, still learn, still be us but better of course)

Sorry that is super long.

yes, i just want to be content with my life, have a rewarding job, a partner to share things with, a cute cozy house, and kids someday. sometimes it seems like all that is so far away, but it is not! I totally agree with Ashley's comment (awesome comment Ashley); we are always striving for "perfection" and have to be careful not to define it by the worldly/media standards we are constantly exposed to (even through blogs!) but by surrounding ourselves with people we love and being there for them as well. It is an inspiring concept to define perfection as the "journey," not a worldly destination you are never going to get to! I am happiest when I am working hard and being as productive as I know I can be, balanced with keeping in touch with my family and doing little things for my boyfriend to keep him happy, while also pausing to appreciate the little things in life. *whew!*

This is one of my favorite quotes. My goal is to always be motivated by happiness first and money and all that other stuff second. I think it's what makes me a super selfish person at times (because it really is all about my happiness) but it also makes me a better person because when I do things it comes from a very genuine place.

Love you!

xx
