i need to pull my life together...

Whoa. I have been a sucktastic blogger lately. I hate that. I hate that I don't really have tons of time to blog it up, or to even do things to blog about like I use to do. Work is basically making me lame.

What am I going to do about this? Well in the words of my BFF Ashton, I am going to pull my effing life together. I am going to blog regularly, even if it is just a quick hiya to my blog pals. This isn't me forcing myself to blog (because I really do love it), it is just me trying to keep it interesting!

So...I have a lot to blog about throughout this week. Some posts will happen...some won't...but they will eventually be posted (and I am pretty sure no one will be THAT heartbroken if I miss a few days of blogging).

Oh, and do y'all remember the 3o Day Challenge I am doing? Well, it isn't going to be 3o days...it is going to be 30 posts...that happen when they happen.

I am also breaking the rules on this one because I have SO many crushes that to name just one would be blasphemy.

Day 2-Your Crush...

There.
Are.
No.
Words.

Well, except for AMEN!

Alright. Lets do this...

Day 1-Your Best Friend...

So...this is a simple one, it is also one where I am going to break the rules. But whatevs. I have TWO best friends, no I cannot pick between them. Bff Jil is an honorary member of my family (lucky her). I see her pretty much every single day, we have a fake lesbian relationship, she is basically legit. End of story.

This is Fabi. We have been besties since forever...like 10 years. We were inseparable until she got married a year after high school and moved to Arkansas where her hubs was stationed (they are now located in Alaska). It sucks that she is so far away, but we have stayed super close. I love her bad.

Day 1 of the 30 day challenge? Piece. Of. Cake.

one year old...

I am going to state the obvious, today is August 18, 2010. This doesn't seem like a big deal, does it? Well, in actuality it is. One year ago today I started this little blog o' mine. I started it because it was summer and I was bored, I honestly figured that it would last a month tops. Now here I am, one year later and I am so in love with my blog and the little blogging community I am a part of.

I don't get sappy or emotional very often, in real life or on my blog, but today I am going to get a tad lovey dovey. Just love me through it...

Before I joined the blog world I always mocked people who had 'internet friends'. Like SERIOUSLY made fun of it. I always thought that there was no way one could build a relationship with someone via a computer that they have never met face to face. Well, a few months of blogging and I was proven so very wrong.

I have an amazing family. I have some of the best friends a girl could have. I have also made REAL bonds and REAL friendships with my online pals.

Some I have been lucky enough to meet in real life...

Some I have yet to meet, don't worry all of you are on my agenda! In this past year a lot has happened. Good, bad, funny, and sad and I pretty much blogged about all of it. You are all hilarious, sweet, caring people and I am a better person for 'knowing' you all.

I wanted to do a special giveaway for my one year blog birthday, but I need to get an Etsy shoppe set up with Bff Jil for the craft blog we have. So, I promise in celebration there will be a giveaway coming up VERY soon. As for now thank you all for being a part of this blog, you all inspire me with your own posts, your comments, texts, emails, and tweets. I have nothing but love for y'all.

Happy Birthday blog o' mine, here is to another year of stories, pictures, and adventures. So, what do YOU all want to hear about? What should I blog about? Which posts are your favorites? Which features should I keep/change/or add? I am open to any and all suggestions!

double trouble {2.}...

I promised in a post last week that I would relax and only do things I wanted to do over the weekend. I basically succeeded in that task (minus a few loads of laundry). I continued on in my re-reading of Harry Potter (finished book 4 and started book 5), I played Super Mario Bros. Wii, I tanned in the pool, and just relaxed. It was quite lovely.

On Sunday, Bff Jil brought her nephew Jacob (also known as Jake-n-Bake) over to play with my niece Jordan (also known as 'Bug'). These two are the CUTEST children on the planet. I refer to them as 'Double Trouble' even though they NEVER fight, whine, cry, or misbehave when they play together. I am 99.9% positive that two five year olds will always fight with one another if they spend an entire day playing. Not these two, they get along like gangbusters.

We have decided they will either get married to each other, or get arrested together...possibly both.

We spent ALL day in the pool. We made a fort out of rafts, did cannonballs, made an obstacle course for the kids, and got our tan on. Jacob was not a fan at first, but by the end of the day he was swimming solo and didn't want help from anybody. He also determined that my name is 'Zanderson'. Long story short..my nickname is 'Zander', that is what Bff Jil calls me, Jacob for some reason liked 'Zanderson' better.

We called a break when a breeze picked up and we got a little chilly in the water. It was supposed to be 103 degrees, and I would guess it was maybe 90. Which is still hot, but not really when you add cold pool water, and a breeze. While Bff Jil and I lounged on our towels eating pretzel m&ms and drinking hard lemonade, the kids frolicked around with the beach ball sprinkler and had icees.

They were HILARIOUS when playing with this thing. They both used their cups to dunk water over each others heads. I have never heard two kids laugh so much! They are presh.

I do believe this is one of my all time favorite pictures. How cute do they look? This was the five seconds that they remained still all afternoon.

We finally ventured back into the shade of the house when the kids started to look a little red. They played the Wii and then watched Monsters, Inc. while Bff Jil and I watched a documentary ('8: The Mormon Proposition'; it was really interesting). I went to check on them in my room and they were sitting on the bed, watching the movie...and holding hands. True love at age 5...who would have thought?!

What did YOU all do over the weekend?

fill in the blank friday {14.}...

All I have to say today is...IT. Is. Finally. FRIDAY! Which also means it is time to fill in some blanks. Enjoy...

{1.} Birthdays are basically the most important days on the planet. I mean really. I am 100% birthday obsessed. I think everyone should have what I like to call 'Birthday Week'...Gilmore style.

{2.} My favorite birthday memory was when I turned 16 and my two best friends at the time surprised me with tickets for us to all go see Blink-182. Which may sound lame now...but let me tell you...I was OBSESSED with them.

{3.} A birthday tradition I (or my family) has is we always have a family dinner where the birthday boy/girl gets to pick the meal, the cake, and whatever else.

{4.} If I had to choose one birthday meal to eat for the rest of my birthdays hence forward, I would choose the glorious chicken marsala that my big brother Jason makes. Plus the garlic bread with fresh mozzarella melted on it. I would top it off with a Sprinkles cupcake, obvi.

{5.} My birthday is on October 24th! Which means it is almost here...which means I will be 25...which means I will be OLD...which means I want to cry.

{6.} If I could take a birthday trip I would go to NYC with Bff Jil. We always talk about it, and NEVER do it. It would be a blast, that is for sure.

{7.} The best gift I've ever received for my birthday was the set of 'Scrappy Blocks' that Bff Jil made for me. Even though I know how to make them, the fact that she made them for me was fabulous. I appreciated them even more because I know how time consuming they are. Plus, she made them fit my personality perfectly AND included my favorite family/friend photos.

Don't forget to fill in your own blanks and then link up over at Lauren's blog! Have a great weekend blog pals!

wise words wednesday {9.}...

This week has been in-freaking-tense. The Job is going great, I am really enjoying it (even though I complain about it sometimes).

So, while everything is going smoothly...things are also getting slightly crazy. As the days go by I am getting more and more freedom and doing my own thing without supervision or instruction. It is hard. It is stressful. It is exhausting. It is fulfilling. It is an incredible opportunity. It is a lot of things. I am in Big Girl World for real now. However, I try to not take myself too seriously, and to remember the importance of play.

Yes, we all have to grow up at some point, but we do NOT have to be grown up all of the time...

{9.} Wise Words...

This weekend I am going to do only things I want to do. I am going to lounge, play on the Wii, read, swim, and schedule some blog posts. I am going to play. What are YOU all up to this weekend?

lessons i learned from gilmore girls {4.}...

It is FINALLY Friday, so I decided to gift you all with this glorious post from one of my lovely blog friends Kat! Make sure you check out her blog...and her twitter! I am so loving these Gilmore Girls posts. Keep them coming ladies! Enjoy...

*Post Written By Kat*

Heya!
My name is Kat & like all the other lovely guest posters on Alex's blog....
(you know
Marci, Shelby Lou, Jaymie)
I am a Gilmore girl.

Of course I am not of the Stars Hollow world,
more the Colorado Springs world.

But I do love Gilmore Girls.
Annnnyyywhoozle.
I was inspired from this idea to borrow A.J.'s Season 1
(yeah, not all Gilmore girls are, well, girls)
and so all of my lessons are going to be sprinkled in from mostly the first half!
So, here are my lessons gathered!

If you are going to throw your life away for a guy, at least let it be for a guy with a motorcycle.

Gnome kicking says a lot about a mans character.

If the insults are biblical, you go to an advanced school.

If Chad Micheal Murry goes to your school it probably isn't a horrible school. Oh, oops. Okay it could be.

Wordsmithing is the key to life, and pre-dating one's daughter's teacher needs a key.

'What defines a good aisle?' 'An aisle where you get kissed by the new kid is a good aisle.'

'This says: 'Hello Im hip and cute, but also relaxed. Since this is something I just threw on even though it looks fantastic on me. (years of fashion brain freeze, comback, laugh, smile right, flip v twirl, standing amazed- wallet!) The talking part, you just get used to. The hair twirl, I can teach you. And the leaving-him-amazed part... with your brain and killer blue eyes, I'm not worried. You'll do fine. Just give yourself a little time to get there.'

'Is half an hour enough?'

'Plenty. Come on. Dab on some lip gloss, clear but fruity. Maybe a little mascara. Wear your hair down, and your attitude high!'

Boys must answer the door to pick up a lady.

'This is not a drive-thru! She is not chicken!'

Never, never, ever, ever, never accept a date with a man named Rune.

Do not invite girls who are named 'Madeline' or 'Louise' to a Bangles Concert.

According to Taylor, there are 8 tells for shoplifters.

I will never be a slutty Thursday afternoon girl!

Lorelai loves snow. I love Lorelai.

& there you go!
Lessons I've learned from Season 1!
Well there are plenty more lessons, but I didn't want to steal them all!

[Oh! & shameless pimping of my Twitter but in really small font!]

-Thanks Kat! I loooooved this post so bad. If anyone wants to join in on the guest post action, leave your email in the comments section!

wise words wednesday {8.}...

Something marvelous happened today. A huge wrong was set right. Today equality won. I heard the news and I cried from sheer happiness. Is it the end of the battle? No. Is it a huge step towards winning said battle? Yes. I believe that the right to marry is for everyone. I understand not all people feel this way, and I love and respect those people. I don't 'hate' them, even though I strongly disagree with them. I urge all of you who do hate people who do not agree with your stance to stop. The whole point of this battle is to fight hate. To say no to hate. #NOH8. If you have any negativity, keep it off this blog. Today is not the day, today is loves day. End of story.

Basically we just had a blast. What did YOU all do this weekend? Please, share! Also, feel free to make fun of us for playing a 'Twilight' themed boardgame...love us through it!
